LLM cost alert · Support agent. Model API spend for the AI support agent is up this week. The switch from Gemini 3 Flash to Llama 3.3 70B on Monday is not the cause.
What changed
Daily LLM cost up from €210 to €340. Cost per ticket flat at €0.17.
Likely cause
Tickets (Snowflake) up from 1,200 to 2,000 a day since Tuesday. Llama 3.3 70B costs about the same per token as Gemini 3 Flash.
Owner

Suggested next step
Find what drove the spike, then deflect repeat questions to the help center.

@Costory which ticket categories grew the most since Tuesday, and what did they cost?
CostoryAPP4:23 PM
Login and auth tickets grew the most, from about 150 to 900 a day, and account for most of the increase. Cost per ticket in that category is €0.16, in line with the others (€0.15 to €0.18). Suggested next step: add a help center answer for the login error and point those tickets to it.

How it works

Three steps.

No FinOps hire in the loop.

Costory’s agent does the daily watching and investigating. Your engineers decide what ships.

Costory’s agent does the daily watching and investigating. Your engineers decide what ships.

01

Connect in under 30 minutes

Read-only access to your billing exports and metrics, with Terraform or CloudFormation, or paste one prompt in Claude. Costory has no write access to your cloud.

02

Get a first recommendation the next day

The agent allocates your spend to teams, watches it against each team’s baseline and sends the first optimization recommendation, with usage evidence and an impact estimate.

03

Work where your team already works

Alerts and investigation threads land in Slack. Ask from Claude, Cursor or Grok Bot. Your team approves every change.

What Costory does

One agent. Three jobs.

Around the clock.

Costory’s agent monitors, optimizes and explains your cloud, AI and data spend, 24/7, in Slack and in your assistant. Read-only on your cloud: your teams make every change.

01

Monitor

Every bill, every day, against each team’s baseline. When spend moves, the owner gets a thread in Slack with the cause: the deploy, the team, the service.

Explain

Ask in Claude, Cursor or Slack: why did AWS go up last week? You get allocated numbers you can check down to the invoice line.

Why is our infrastructure cost per customer up 9% this quarter?

Finding cost change factors

Two drivers, both owned and already investigated.

1. New EU region for Checkout: about €14,000 a month since July (Platform team).

2. Support: the switch to a larger LLM in August doubled the cost per ticket; the team is testing a cheaper model for simple tickets.

24/7

In your workflow

Investigation threads, alerts and weekly showback per team land in your Slack channels. Anyone can ask @Costory in a thread.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does Costory’s agent do?

It watches allocated cloud, AI and data spend, investigates changes, recommends optimizations and follows them up in Slack. You work with it from the assistant you already use, such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or Grok Bot. Your team approves what goes live.

Do we need a FinOps person to run it?

No. The agent does the daily monitoring, investigation and recommendation work, and an engineer reviews what it proposes. Teams that already have FinOps roles use it too.

How fast do we get started?

Connection takes under 30 minutes. The first optimization recommendation arrives the next day.

Does it change anything in our cloud?

No. Costory has read-only access to billing exports and the metrics you connect. Rightsizing, commitments and other changes are decided and made by your team.

How is it priced?

Flat monthly plans, billed annually: Copilot, €250/month (up to €10M annual cloud spend) and Copilot Pro, €1,000/month (up to €20M). Both include a 30-day free trial.
